From Thomas Merton's "The Inner Experience"
Now man with all his faculties and also with his soul recollects himself and enters into the temple (his inner self) in which, in all truth, he finds God dwelling and at work. Man then comes to experience God not after the fashion of the senses and of reason, or like something that one understands or reads...but he tastes Him, and enjoys Him like something that springs up from the ground of the soul as from a fountain, without having been brought there, for a fountain is better than a cistern, the water of cisterns gets stale and evaporates, but the spring flows, bursts out, swells: it is true, not borrowed. It is sweet.

Oh, Wow! I can't believe this week's word is persevere. My daughter was seriously injured in a biking accident on July 29. She has a spinal cord injury and has lost feeling and movement in her feet. We do not know if she will regain these functions or not. She is in spinal cord injury rehab in Atlanta. Perseverance will be a requirement of her therapy to work hard to recover her mobility. Her life may be very different now, but we are trusting God to be a Mighty Deliverer for her. Please join us in our prayers for Christina to regain her health and mobility. Thanks.
